Neat Tools & Resources

Below is a list I will add to as I find new cool stuff. The aim is all these will be free (or offer a free version) tools available as applications for your desktop and/or phone/mobile device.

12ft Ladder – Prepend to the URL of any paywalled page, and we'll try our best to remove the paywall and get you access to the article.

Business Name Generator (aka namelix) – neat tool to generate fun business names based on words you use to convey the “meaning” of your business.

Extract Page Title, Description and Keywords from URLs – It does what it says it will do.

Free Music Archive

Free SEO Tools – a whole host of neat tools SEO pros can use. It's the “mini Swiss Army knife” for SEO.

Free Video Converter – easily convert video formats.

GZIP Checker – This test will check whether your website (and ultimately the server your website is hosted on) has GZIP or Brotli enabled by connecting to your domain and requesting the necessary information. Next to that it will also give you some additional information, like the file size of the original version of the web page you test and how much you (may) benefit from using GZIP compression.

Magic Eraser – easily remove stuff from images, just like using an eraser.

My Font – Find out what font a website is using. Neat and pretty accurate.

Pingdom Tools – Enter a URL to test the page load time, analyze it, and find bottlenecks.

TinyURL – make any link a short link. Careful, though–a lot of ISPs reject these as scammers & spammers use Tiny and links all the time.

Who Hosts This Site? – It does what it says it will do.

Future Development: All the image/photo/vector sites that offer free stuff.
