The new old direction

There I said it. I am a blogger. That's what got me here. It's why I do what I do. I just need to do more of it.

Getting back to my roots.

After all, I started blogging many years ago. Probably before blogging was even a word. Certainly before blogging platforms like WordPress and Blogspot came out. I did it “old school” — on old-fashioned “static HTML” sites. Yes, that's right, I simply jotted down my thoughts on my old website as they occurred, making myself a “blog” before blogging was in vogue.

For years, I blogged nearly every day; often, multiple times per day. I got away from that when I became an “internet marketer.” I think a lot of people do that. Well, it's time to go back to what made me happy.

I like people like Lynn Terry and Pat Flynn. They blog; they do affiliate marketing. They're real people doing real work. They don't just sell products. I'm growing very tired of the “pump and dump” feeling I get with a lot of internet marketers.

Don't get me wrong–I like making how-to products. I like showing people how to do stuff. I will continue doing that.

But you will see a lot more posts from me. I hope you like the change in direction.

  • I agree completely, Bill. Obviously we need to make money, too, but just about every mailing list I signed up for over the last year or so starts out with three ‘good’ emails, and then everything after that is strictly ‘buy buy buy’. No more helpful content after that.

I think I have just the opposite problem, though. I tend to blog TOO much, without ever asking people to buy. I guess I need to find that happy medium point where I can deliver good content, but still work in some ways to make some money without being so ‘intrusive.’

Looking forward to your ‘return’ to blogging.

    • Yeah, it will be a lot more natural for me, that’s for sure. I will still make products to sell, of course, but they will be few and far between and hopefully value-packed 🙂
