Once a Week Newsletter (OWN) #14 - the "Get Back to Work" Edition
January 8, 2021 Once a Week Newsletter (OWN) #14

Howdy there, folks! This week's edition of the Once a Week Newsletter (OWN) is brought to you by…me!

But seriously, it's time to get back to work! The holidays are over (well, the two big ones here in the States) and it's smooth sailing until…Martin Luther King Day a couple weeks away. I'm glad we can't go more than a couple weeks without a holiday!

(That's always been a pet peeve of mine. Why so many holidays? In fact, there is probably some sort of holiday nearly every day. It's ridiculous.)

As always, I scour my sources to find interesting and (hopefully) helpful articles and stories for you.

Just a note on those “sources” – I've amassed a pretty big collection of “go-to” sites that I reference every day. I've put most of them in a feed reader. (RSS still exists!) That makes it super-simple to see what's new and exciting and worth sharing.

Without further ado, here are the five I found for you this week.

If you want me to email the Once a Week Newsletter (OWN) to you, just fill out the form at the bottom. It's not fancy, but it'll get the job done (I'm using SendFox for the newsletter as well as a weekly roundup of posts here on the site).

OWN #13 – Happy New Year!

Hi! Well, today is January 1, 2021. Let's hope this year is better than the last.

2020 was a pisser.

Let's move forward together and help each other grow. I feel like I didn't grow one single bit last year.

But it wasn't COVID's fault. The president had nothing to do with it. In fact, there's only one guy to blame for my failure and it's ME.

You may be in the same boat. Or not. Just know that if you are, we're together. Let's work on removing the water from the boat, okay?

That said, let's get to the newsletter. Here goes.

The Most Important Blog Post
It is on the most important blog. Yours. Even if no one but you reads it. The blog you write each day is the blog you need the most. It’s a compass and a mirror, a chance to put a stake in the ground and refine your thoughts. And the most important post? The one you’ll write tomorrow.

That's why I write this. I'm not consistent – yet. But I will be.

OWN #11

The latest edition of the Once a Week Newsletter (OWN)

Well, we're one week away from arguably the biggest culmination of a marketer's entire year, all wrapped up in a matter of just a few weeks.

And–this being 2020, the Year of the Pandemic–we could use a break.

No, I'm not alluding to a break in delivery of OWN. No, sirree.

What I am suggesting is that you take a break.

I mean, if you can. It's time to rest and get charged up for 2021. I do think the first half will suck pretty hard, but the second half will be spectacular.

Once we're all vaccinated, COVID-19 will fall by the wayside and the economy will boom.

But enough prognosticating. We have things to learn. Here's what I have for you in this week's newsletter.

Oh, and if you don't mind, share this with a friend, loved one, or co-worker.

OWN #10

The latest edition of the Once a Week Newsletter (OWN)

I always harp on y'all about building automated (or semi-automated) processes…and then I don't do the same for myself.

I'm like a fat doctor with clogged arteries.

The way this new newsletter is supposed to work is like this:

  • I find good articles and info for you Saturday through Wednesday.
  • On Wednesday, I draft the new edition.
  • At the same time, I schedule a broadcast for Friday.

Welp, the last two times, I've done the first two steps but then forgot/neglected to do the last.

And here we are. Late again! LOL.

Let's get to it.
