FYI—I just put together a short report that consists of two parts:

  1. Ping List
  2. Plugin List

I call it “Plug ‘n Ping” and it's a really great reference to have, especially if you want your web site to work for you.

And who doesn't want that?

It's NOT fancy. But it is meaty. And you can put both concepts to work in mere minutes (2-10 depending).

The first part deals with a little-known and very-little-modded piece of the WordPress configuration—it's in settings and it's called “Update Services.” By default, WP only has one update service that it pings when you post new content.

That's not good enough.

With my list, you get 100+ services that WordPress pings whenever you post new content. This gets your new web site, or even existing ones, indexed quickly.

Then there's my plugin list. This list is pretty short, but it included every plugin I currently install with any new web site. Most of the plugins on my list are free, but some are premium. I have flagged the premium ones for you.

So that's it. If you are interested, check it out. There's a buy button at the bottom of this post.

No need to hype this—you either see the value in it or you don't. And at the current $7, it really doesn't take a lot of thinking to justify the expense.
